Dr. Judith Tinuke Ojo-Aromokudu is a registered Professional Architect and Senior Lecturer at the School of Engineering, University of KwaZulu-Natal, bringing over three decades of experience spanning professional practice, academia, and built environment governance. She holds a Ph.D. in Architecture from UKZN, a Master of Science in Architecture from Obafemi Awolowo University, and a Master’s in Housing StudiesRegistered with the South African Council for the Architecture Profession (SACAP) and an active member of both the South African Institute of Architects (SAIA) and the Gauteng Institute for Architects (GIfA), Dr. Ojo-Aromokudu has a long track record of professional leadership and service. She has served on the SACAP 5th and 6th Term Education Committees, conducted architectural school accreditation visits across southern Africa, and held the role of Secretary to the Canberra Accord on Architecture Education. At GIfA, she served as Education Convener, establishing pathways for the Young Professional Forum.
Her teaching portfolio at UKZN includes Research Methods, Advanced Professional Practice, and coordination of the Part-Time Architecture Master’s Design Studio. Her research interests centre on housing, informal settlements, building standards, and studio-based learning, with numerous peer-reviewed publications and a rich thesis supervision record spanning architecture, planning, and housing disciplines.
Dr Ojo-Aromokudu has engaged with the JBCC as both practitioner and educator, teaching architectural contracts and professional practice at UKZN. Her governance experience extends to the non-profit sector through her directorship with the Sister Mura Foundation, where she was instrumental in establishing governance structures for the organization. She joins the JBCC Board with a wealth of interdisciplinary expertise, a deep understanding of challenges in the built environment, and a proven commitment to professional excellence and governance.
