SUMMARY:EXTENSION OF TIME AND ROLE OF THE PRINCIPAL AGENT WEBINAR - 29 Jul
 y 2026
DESCRIPTION:JBCC MAY 2018 6TH EDITION: CLAUSE 23.0\nGUIDELINES ON HOW TO AD
MINISTER EXTENSION OF TIME FOR PRACTICAL COMPLETION\nSESSION 1\nJBCC May 2
018 6th Edition: Clause 23.0 Guidelines on How to Administer Extension of
Time for Practical Completion\n•   Delays where the contractor is not
at fault would normally constitute a valid claim for (EOT).\n\n•   Del
ays affects critical path of projects.\n\n•   Confirming a delay and/
or disruption is not an easy task: it is a time-consuming process\, especi
ally in multifaceted projects with thousands of activities\, a lot of deta
ils\, as well as the involvement of many stakeholders.\n\n•   It is im
 portant for clients\, contractors\, sub-contractors\, and consultants to u
nderstand the fundamental requirements of compiling a successful EOT claim
\, and the adjudication of claims submitted.\n\n•   These training not
es will provide those involved in the preparation and adjudication of EOT
claims under the JBCC with some essential information to deal more product
ively with this complex matter.\n\n•   On larger projects\, the magnit
ude of time-related costs can easily run into millions of rand. With so mu
ch at stake\, it is understandable that delay claims are a major source of
disputes in the construction industry.\n\n•    The proper assessment
of delay claims is essential so that the parties can deal with it without
having to resolve the dispute in expensive and drawn-out arbitration or l
 itigation processes.\nSESSION 2\nJBCC MAY 2018 6th Edition: Understanding
The Roles of The Various Role Players Involved in The Building Contract wi
th Emphasis on The Role of The Principal Agent\n•   The building contr
act involves a host of role players to establish a successful project - ro
le players all have specific functions to be performed within specific bou
ndaries\, with specific powers entrusted to them.\n\n•   Role players
must work together to ensure a successful project is completed within time
frames and with professionalism\, integrity\, honesty and moral standards.
\n\n•   Some functions are regulated by contracts between role players
\, but others are governed by the standards laid down by society – the s
o-called boni mores of a community.\n\n•   Role players must be aware
of the impact of their actions.\n\n•   It is imperative that all parti
es involved in a project have proper detailed knowledge of their respectiv
e roles\, powers\, duties\, timelines and application of specialised profe
ssional contributions to the “team.”\n\n•   It is the function of
the principal agent to bring all the aspects\, required for a successful b
uilding project\, together in a coordinated and orderly manner.\n\n•
The role of the principal agent therefore requires a proper understandin
g or else a project may fall apart to the detriment of all parties involve
d.\n\n•   If the role of the principal agent is not fully understood\,
chaos may be the result in which all parties suffer financial loss\, impa
ired reputations and environmental damage.\nVIRTUAL SEMINAR COST : \nSing
