CEO of FormSpace Architects, Kumarsen Thamburan, holds the following qualifications: Pr. Arch (SACAP), B. Arch (UKZN), N.H.Dip (D.U.T), N.Dip (D.U.T) and Arch SA Mi Arch and has in excess of 25 years’ experience in the Built Environment with in excess of 20 years post Professional Architect experience, registered with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) and the South African Institute for Architects (SAIA). He has extensive experience in all facets of the Profession.
He has been in private practice for 21 years, currently heading up one of the oldest B-BBEE practices with 28 years industry track record. Besides being a full-time practicing Architect, Kumarsen has gained an extensive experience in serving on several committees and organisations within the profession. This helps him keep abreast of the latest trends and developments within our ever evolving building industry.
Kumarsen has served as an Executive Committee member on the Gauteng Institute for Architecture (GIFA) from 2014 to 2015, thereafter taking the reigns as the President of the Institute from 2016 to 2018. He has served concurrently as Chairman of the Building Development Committee and an active representative on South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA) from 2007 to 2009. He has been a Technical Committee Member on the Joint Building Contracts Committee (JBCC) from 2015 to 2017 and currently a Board member from 2016. In June 2020 Kumarsen was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of the JBCC. He is currently a committee member on the Professional Consultants Services Agreement Committee (PROCSA) and has represented SAPOA on this platform for the past 14 years. Kumarsen currently serves as an Excutive on the Construction Sector Charter Council (CSCC) and has served as board member for the South African Institute for Architects (SAIA) for the period 2016 to 2018. In 2017 he became one of the founding members of the South African Union of Architects. Kumarsen continues to make huge contributions to the Built Environment due to his extensive background and experience in the sector. Unapologetically, he is constantly in pursuit of equality and equal opportunity in the profession and the industry as a whole making him an “advocate for change and equal opportunity”
